Fluid bed granulation
From powder blends to homogeneous, high quality granulates, suitable for capsule and tablet production.

What fluid bed granulation is
It aggregates powder particles into larger, homogeneous and manageable granules, improving flowability, uniformity and compressibility.
In the fluid bed, powders are held in suspension by an air flow while a sprayed binder aggregates them and hot air dries them at the same time.
The fluid bed process
- 01
Fluidisation
An air flow lifts the powders and holds them in suspension.
- 02
Spraying
A liquid binder wets the particles and promotes their aggregation into granules.
- 03
Drying
Hot air dries the forming granules, consolidating them in a single pass.
The advantages of granulation
Flowability
Essential for automatic dosing.
Homogeneity
Less segregation of components.
Compressibility
Strong, uniform tablets.
Efficiency
Granulation and drying in a single pass.

Custom formulations
Binder, component ratios, order of addition and parameters define the result: granulation is a formulation exercise too.
Heat-sensitive actives, hygroscopic ingredients and multi-component blends call for dedicated strategies, which we develop together with the client and our R&D.
Domande frequenti
What is fluid bed granulation?
It aggregates powder blends into homogeneous granules: particles are held in suspension, a binder aggregates them and hot air dries them at the same time.
What are granulates used for?
Mainly for capsule and tablet production in nutraceuticals and food supplements: they improve flowability, dosing uniformity and compressibility.
Do you develop custom formulations?
Yes. Together with the client and our R&D we choose binder, parameters and granule size according to the product and the destination equipment.
Is it available as a contract service?
Yes, on a toll processing basis from small batches to industrial volumes, and it can be combined with the other processes.
